A Mother’s Welcome

A message from Tikatok™ co-founder and CEO Sharon Kan

When I take my daughter to the bookstore I see lots of children's books but in almost every case they are written, illustrated, and edited by adults. My daughter tells stories all the time, and sometimes I think they are just as good, if not better, than the stories the adult authors come up with. But there has been no way for her to share her stories with kids around the world... until now!

Tikatok was founded by two mothers who wanted to create a place where children can write, illustrate, publish, and print their own books. It has been a labor of love to make this vision a reality, and now Tikatok gives every child the opportunity to become a published author. Please take it! Explore the site with your child and read what other kids have come up with. I think you’ll be impressed. When you’re ready to join the fun, click “Start a Book” and spend some time with your child making a book. I guarantee it will be time well spent. And don’t forget to share what you make with the community so that other kids can be inspired.

We hope you enjoy your experience, and would love to hear your feedback. The site is still in its testing phase so your response will help us make sure the book creation experience is a positive one and that Tikatok is always a place where children can learn and have fun.

I promise there will be lots of exciting activities on our site in the coming months, including special events, contests, celebrity visits, and much more. But first, let’s create some books!
