Tikatok™ Community Guidelines

Tikatok gives everybody the opportunity to be a published author. It may seem like the only job a writer has is to write, but there are actually lots of other important things that a writer does that people don't always talk about. At Tikatok, we want you to become a great writer, so let us fill you in on the unwritten (until now) rules that great authors follow. If you think about these guidelines, you will understand why we have the rules that we do, and be less likely to break them.

  1. Respect Your Readers

A great writer is always thinking about who will read their books, and they respect their readers. Remember, if you didn't have anybody to tell your story to, you wouldn't really be an author!

Writers are always asking themselves questions such as these: Who could be reading my book? Would anybody be upset if they read my book? Is the language I am using appropriate for younger readers of my book? Is the picture I am drawing inappropriate, such that it could get my readers in trouble for looking at it?

  2. Respect Other Authors

Writers stick together! A good writer respects the work that other writers have done. They try to be positive when reading another writer's work, and maybe even give them a helping hand. And they also respect how other writers want their work to be shared.

  3. Protect Yourself

Finally, because writers share their most personal thoughts and imaginations with other people, writers need to respect, and protect, themselves. Please make sure that you protect the privacy of yourself and your family.

The Rules

Tikatok is like a publishing house in that we work hard to make sure that readers and other writers are being respected. By becoming a member, you also agree to our Terms of Service. When we see writers who are not acting respectfully, we have to do something about it.

We will remove books, messages, and comments from the site that violate these rules. When we remove content, we will send the writer (or the writer's parent) an email explaining why, and showing exactly which rules were violated. If you violate the same rule more than once, we will remove your account.
